In an exciting “meeting of the minds” for real estate investors and private lenders, the American Association of Private Lenders (AAPL) has announced that it will join forces with Think Realty at Think Realty’s National Conference & Expo in Baltimore, Maryland, on June 24, 2017 at the Baltimore Convention Center. AAPL, publisher of Think Realty Magazine’s sister publication, Private Lender, has developed a unique educational track for the event that will focus specifically on private lending. Whether expo attendees opt to move through the day’s events following only the private-lending educational track or diversify their education by attending trainings in other areas as well, investors interested in leveraging their own capital to generate returns in real estate will find the highly-focused sessions taught by certified instructors both actionable and educational, while active investors will benefit from a peek into the mindset of the “private money lender.”
“AAPL’s network of members and partners will be on-site for education and networking,” said Linda Hyde, AAPL’s executive director. “We’re so pleased to be able to offer our members a unique opportunity to expand their networks and opportunities at the Expo.” The day’s AAPL-powered events are titled, in series, “Other People’s Money @ Work.”
The event will kick off with opening remarks from Think Realty President Eddie Wilson, himself an experienced private lender with a well-known eye for a good opportunity for both his capital and his partners. Wilson is one of four Think Realty Resident Expert faculty, and his experience in private lending in a variety of sectors of the real estate industry makes his specialty, brokering diverse deals that reap substantial rewards for lenders both active and passive, make him the ideal speaker to launch the event, not to mention a wonderful addition to any private lenders’ network of peers and associates. From there, the day will begin with some logistical essentials: “How Investors Successfully Use Private Money to Fund Fix & Flips,” and will be followed by an informal networking session in the Expo Hall and a catered lunch dealing with the legal pitfalls that face many “hands-on” investors, like landlords, in today’s real estate market. Given that the safety, profitability, and productivity of these investors ties directly to the safety, profitability, and productivity of private lenders’ funds and funding, this panel will provide insights that private lenders can ill-afford to miss.
After lunch, the AAPL-sponsored educational track will continue with a panel discussion on “Working with Ethical Lenders,” featuring industry leaders like Brian Augsberger, Rehab Financial’s director of sales and marketing, whose role at the lender revolves, in large part, around procuring new business and cultivating relationships with new and existing clients. Augsberger’s experience in building a reputation along with a brand will provide invaluable insight into identifying ethical lenders, borrowers, and brokers, and establishing lasting relationships with them. The day will conclude with the creative topic, “Innovation in Lending,” that will feature flexible and creative options for private lenders and those who wish to become private lenders, to be followed by an informal cocktail hour on the Think Realty floor.
“It’s so important for real estate investors on both sides of a deal’s equation to understand that no matter how much capital you do have, there is always a bigger deal than what your capital resource is. This jointly-sponsored event is the ideal venue to expand your resources and potential network while gaining access to the most up-to-date education in the private lending sector.”
