Proptech company Motili is helping bring one of the most sustainable and energy-efficient HVAC systems to a large student housing community in Georgia.
The Denver-based company recently announced that it’s working with the Cardinal Group to comprehensively retrofit the HVAC system for Westmar Lofts, a nearly 400-unit student housing community near Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia.
Motili and Cardinal will be installing a highly-energy efficient 16 SEER HVAC system — 3 SEER higher than required by the Georgia Energy Code, according to Motili. The project will also qualify for utility rebates from Georgia Power, the company added. The HVAC overhaul was accompanied by Cardinal’s installation of new LED lighting throughout the entire property, and high-efficiency water fixtures in the resident apartments.
The student facility expects the new HVAC installation to pay back on energy savings in less than five years, rather than the typical 10-year horizon with most HVAC retrofit projects.
“Getting an HVAC redevelopment project to payback under five years is tremendous,” said Matthew Sallee, vice president of sales at Motili. “Our expertise in HVAC in multifamily projects in the multi-family environment ultimately allowed us to overcome the myriad challenges presented by a project of this scope and scale.”
Motili leverages a nationwide network of contractors, operations teams, and its web platform to handle work requests from start to finish. The company automatically schedules, dispatches, manages and invoices job requests. The company’s predictive analytics improves budgeting accuracy by predicting project equipment failures. The company works with single-family, multi-family, and commercial clients.
